Are you happy?
Or does your mind wander and make declarations that you aren’t worth a life that you can be excited about?
See mindset plays a huge role in not only attitude but also your successes in life.
Two people who are in exactly the same circumstance can have entirely different daily attitudes based on their mindsets.
Any successful person whether financially, academically, or simply in attitude towards life begins in the mindset stage!
So what is mindset?
A form of thinking that results in your attitude and outlooks. Sounds really obvious doesn’t?
In my own words, I think that mindset is more like a state of mind. Whether that state is a good place or a bad place. It’s also something that I believe we have total control over! It’s taken me some time to convince my brain to believe what I wanted to believe in my heart!
See the thing about mindset is that in part, it’s something that is learned overtime from experiences and personal beliefs from other outside sources.
Do you remember as a child how probable everything seemed? When I was six I had no doubt that I would grow up to be a kindergarten teacher and live in a 5-star hotel. I didn’t question it at all! It wasn’t until later on my life developing around 8th grade or so did I start to seriously doubt the potential of my wild dreams.
So how do we get to that mindset that allows for growth, abundance, and a belief that WE CAN ACHIEVE our dreams??

How to change your mindset to be positive with these 7 steps!
1 // We have to begin to believe
This is very important! As I stated before, I couldn’t move onto better things for my life until I started believing that a) I deserved it! And b) I am capable of making it happen!
This blog is not my first blog! It’s actually my second and my first blog totally fell on it’s face because I had a very negative mindset. After starting this blog and after several months, I’ve finally been able to change my mindset and my blog has become so much more successful!
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, DO IT!!
You can follow my walk-through guide, here!
2 // Practice affirmations
Affirmations are positive phrases repeated to ourselves either through speaking them or writing them down.
Speaking affirmations over yourself is super powerful! You’re working to change your initial belief system and replacing self-sabotage with self-empowerment.
When you start to practice them and believe them, subconsciously you’ll start to live them out!
That’s what happened when I started working out again!
I used to do a small workout for about a week and then self-sabotage time! I would start to stare into the mirror and think that there’s no point in working out because I’ll look like any of those fashion models (which is fine! That’s not the point of why I workout anymore.)
I would stop working out and just sit there hating myself but think that there’s nothing I can do about it.
Until I started just saying a few positive affirmations in the mornings and my whole mindset and attitude changed and I’ve been able to consistently workout for a few weeks now and have lost about 5 pounds!
It wouldn’t have even begun if I hadn’t started with affirmations.

3 // Understand that YOU make the decision
Don’t get me wrong! There will be challenges and outside sources that will try to make you believe that YOU actually aren’t in control.
You must believe that this is false! There is literally no one else who can make or take the decision from you. You have all the capacity to do what you want with your own mind! Remember that you may not always be able to control what is around you but how you think and react!
One thing that you can do to give yourself daily encouragement is to create a vision board with images that remind you of what you want to believe and even why your trying to change your mindset.
I have lots of quotes on mine! These are quotes that challenge me and remind me that I have the choice everyday. Along with a pic of a graduate and pics of destinations that I’d like to visit one day.
4 // Write down intentions
After you decide that you want to change your mindset, it’s time to set up intentions. What are your ultimate goals to come out of changing your mindset? Is it to be more positive? To achieve something you thought beyond your abilities? Or something else?
Make a list of these intentions! This is a way that you can keep yourself accountable to your new challenge!
What I do is to make a set of intentions a year from now and work backwards from there breaking those intentions down into monthly and finally daily intentions. I’ll refer back to them every morning after reciting my affirmations.

5 // Be willing to change
This can be one of the most difficult things to do! We are creatures of habit. And those habits whether they are good or bad are a place of comfort. We’re used to them and they are familiar! Change can be scary, especially when we’re around other people who aren’t used to the outlook.
Be prepared to have to explain yourself, probably more than once.
Don’t let that discourage you though, just remember what we’ve talked about so far!
It’s no one else’s business if you want to change, if they don’t like it then let them be. Their negativity is not your problem.
6 // Be authentic
Another tough area! Because we wear masks when interacting with certain people. It’s a huge defense mechanism that I totally understand! It can be very scary to wear your heart on your sleeve but you have to give yourself that courtesy and luxury. If you can’t be yourself in front of others, how can you ever know who you really are and what type of mindset your chasing?
7 // Don’t take a bad day to seriously
It’s going to happen! We’re all human and imperfect. The important thing to understand is to never give up. Simply take that bad day, learn from it, and embrace it!
Are you going to take charge of your mindset and readjust it to fit the idea for your life? It can be very scary trying to change but I have no doubt in mind that you can do it! If I can, YOU CAN TOO!
All the best,
Teya

You are so right, Laura! I’m so glad you like the post!
Yes!! So much of our experience of life comes from not the events themselves but our response/attitude towards them. If you want to change your life, change your mind. Love this post <3
