😬😬 Man, this can be a touchy issue!
Let’s get one thing clear! When I’m talking about quitting, I don’t mean relationships. That’s a whole separate topic! No, what I mean is activities or habits! Sports, jobs, school, you know! Things of that nature!
We never want to think about quitting on something right? No matter what it is!
But sometimes either life happens or we’ve lost interest and we have to give certain things up.
And as someone who has stuck through a few things that should have been given up and have also given on something needed to be fought for.
These questions are essential! And honestly, I wish that someone would have walked me through these when I was fighting so hard to keep something that just wasn’t meant for me anymore!
But how do we know for sure that it’s time to quit??
Below are 7 questions that you should ask yourself when you’re trying to decide if it’s time to quit.
First, do you understand why you’re doing what you’re doing?
This is a big thing! There were a lot of times that I gave up on something simply because it was inconvenient or difficult.
I never stopped to think about WHY I was even doing it in the first place!
Most of these things were sports related which if I had known all of the benefits of participating, I would have stuck it out.
Some things should be done! Even if we don’t want to do them.
Second, is it bringing you joy?
I honestly feel joy should be a key factor for any situation period! Because the Lord gives us joy in all circumstances when we’re in the right place and right time.
If you’re not feeling joyous then I definitely say that it’s time to reevaluate your situation! No matter what!
Next, how will it affect your future?
Like I said before, some things are just GOOD for us regardless of whether or not we like it!
College for instance can be huge for your future!
However, it’s not for everybody and there’s been more than one person who has quit and gone on to live a fabulous life!
But for many of us college is that golden ticket to a better future!
If you’re willing to quit, what kind of repercussions will that have for your future? Will it make it better or easier?
Or just the opposite?
Think about it before jumping the gun!
Or is there a better/different way?
For instance, when I was first working on this blog, I would just work and work without working properly!
I didn’t work in my most optimal time, I didn’t batch work, or work in 50/10!
I felt stretched and drained with nothing to show for it!
But lo and behold, after just a little bit of research and grace! I understood that there is a much better way of working that produced results and avoided the burnout.
Maybe this is something that you can look into too?
Have your put all your effort into it?
Okay, be honest!
Have you put your best foot forward? Are you really trying?
Or just trying to get out of it?
When I was in college, this was my jam!
I would scheme at how I could make the whole experience “easy” my grades were a result.
And by that I mean they went down the drain! I was outraged! I figured college wasn’t for me and thought about quitting.
My effort was NOT where it should have been! I was avoiding instead of embracing!
This is a pattern that I’ve played at well over the years which often resulted in me thinking it’s time to quit. Most of which I followed through on.

How long have you been trying?
Maybe it’s simply time to try your hand at something else?
Is it possible that you’ve simply been giving it your all and are just ready to move on to do something different?
Doing different things is amazing!
As I’ve gotten older and not let my fear get in the way, I’ve discovered that trying new things is insanely awesome! It can be exhilarating and euphoric!
It can also be downright terrifying but when something new sets your heart on fire?? How can you avoid it?
Is it perhaps that something else is getting the way of your new thing?
This could be the right time to simply move on from one thing to another?
Finally, what does God have to say about it?
Reach out and ask for his direction!
Seriously! There have been so many times when I felt like it’s time to quit! But I know that that’s not God’s plan.
There have been situations that I’ve been in before that I felt God move me to quit and I refused to listen!
I’m such a stinker! If I had known the heartache that would follow me not just for a little bit but for YEARS to come! I would have gladly quit!
God has special plans for each of us! And while I’m not going to sit here and say that I understand His timing and goodness, I will say that simply listening to what He’s telling me has NEVER steered me wrong!
Even if you don’t believe in God, He’s still there for you! Walking besides you and TRYING to reach you! Just let him and you’ll be amazed at how your life will change!
It’s seriously the best relationship ever! Because don’t get them confused, religion and relationship are NOT THE SAME THING.
Anyways! If you have any questions on this subject please reach out and I’ll do my best to help!
And one more thing:
I would say that whatever you’re debating, do not do anything in haste! Give yourself some time to really figure out what you want! Because some choices are irrevocable and there will be no going back.
Just think about it!
All the best!
